Seven Steps to Ignite the Law of Attraction
'The Secret' – Oprah lives by it and Millions are reading it. At long last one of the great Universal Principles (around since the beginning of time) has hit the mainstream and whether you like it, hate it, or simply don’t care, the fact is people are actually stopping long enough to try to figure out what 'The Secret' (LAW of Attraction) is and how to make it work for them.
Some of my clients have read the book and are a little confused by how the Law of Attraction really works, so this month I thought I’d break down ‘The Secret’ into what I call ‘Seven Steps to Ignite Your Attraction Reaction.’ I hope you'll find it useful.
I’ll begin with what the Law of Attraction is and is not.
The Law of Attraction IS NOT - a fast or mystical way to bring money, health, happiness or anything else for that matter, into your life by just thinking positively.
The Law of Attraction IS - one of a number of Universal Principles, that when applied consciously, consistently, deliberately with feeling and action WILL affect what shows up in your life. Interestingly, when you take the word Attraction and split it two ways it reads - ATTRACT ACTION.
SEVEN STEPS TO IGNITE THE LAW OF ATTRACTION
1. GRATITUDE
Be grateful for what you have right now and express your gratitude every day. YOU WON’T ATTRACT ANYTHING NEW INTO YOUR LIFE IF YOU AREN’T APPRECIATIVE OF WHAT YOU CURRENTLY HAVE.
2. DESIRE
Determine what you want to have more of in your life. YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CLEAR WITH THIS STEP. If being clear on what you want hasn't come easily to you in the past, start with something small.
3. WRITTEN PLAN
Write down what you want, when you want it by, and what you have to do get what you want. IMAGINE YOU ARE PLACING AN AD IN THE PAPER. WHAT LEVEL OF DETAIL WILL HAVE THE RIGHT PERSON RESPOND?
4. VISUALIZE
Hold the image of what you want in your mind on a consistent basis. THIS STEP CAN BE TRICKY, BECAUSE WE ARE TYPICALLY VERY UNDISCIPLINED THINKERS. To help hold the image I suggest you try to feel yourself achieving what you want. When you feel good you set the Attraction Reaction into full gear. Seeing images of what you want is also a great way to stimulate your thinking, so put pictures of what you want on your mirror. Do whatever you have to do to help keep your thoughts focused on what you want.
5. EXPECTATION
Have an attitude of expectation. This is an unwavering belief that you will have what you want. SIMPLY PUT, YOU’LL SEE IT WHEN YOU BELIEVE IT.
6. ACTION
Take Action – Go about your life, doing what you need to do to bring what you want into your life. WORK YOUR PLAN. If you have followed the previous five steps your radar will be working over time to draw your attention to the things you say you want. SO PAY ATTENTION
7. ALLOW
This step requires that you get out of your way. There is no room for doubt, no questioning, no reminding yourself of the last time you tried this and it didn’t work. GET OUT OF YOUR WAY AND STAY OUT OF THE WAY.
These seven steps are what I use to attract the people, things and circumstances that I most desire. Please note however, that no where does is say that you will get what you want for nothing. There is a price to be paid for everything whether we are conscious of it or not and we must be willing to pay.
Here's an example of how you might apply the seven steps:
The car I’m driving was given to me by my parents. It’s old now, has some rust, but still works well.
1. GRATITUDE – I express my gratitutde every day by saying "I’m am grateful that my car, get’s me to work on time. I love having a car that is reliable.”
2&3 DESIRE & WRITTEN PLAN - I'm clear about what I want - “I want a newer car that looks great and is exceptionally reliable. I've made a very specific plan for what I want and it includes details like Midnight Blue Ford Focus, with A/C, CD Player, heated seats, Sunroof. Great condition, No more than 35,000 kms – Price $10,500. I want the car by August 30, 2007.
4. VISUALIZE - “I have created a vision board with brochure pictures I got from a dealership. I also asked the dealer to take a photograph of me next to a Blue Ford Focus. I feel great when I look at myself in that photo.”
5. EXPECTATION – “No matter what anyone else says, I fully expect to have my car.” There’s something very exciting about that thought.
6. ACTION – I'm following my written plan. I placed a ‘Car Wanted’ advertisement in the Paper describing the Car I’m looking for, I’m paying attention to coincidences, and things I might not have noticed in the past. I attend car auctions and I’ve told my friends what I expect, and they are buying into my vision too.”
7. ALLOW – “Whenever old thinking habits get in the way, like “I have no idea how I’m going to pull this off,” I ask myself which thought feels better? “I still don’t have my new car or, I’m going to love driving my new Car.” That get’s me right back on track.”
Igniting your Attraction Reaction is going to take some practice, but with time I am confident you’ll see great results.
I look forwarding to hearing your success stories.
